X publishing limits and allowances

Understand X post limits, URL-post allowance usage, first comments, media limits, and common allowance errors in solnk.

solnk publishes to X through X's official API. X charges API usage per request, so X publishing uses a separate included allowance inside your normal solnk plan. It is not an extra subscription or wallet.

Content and media limits

  • Text: up to 280 characters per post
  • Images: up to 4; JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP; up to 5 MB each
  • Video: 1 MP4 or MOV video; up to 512 MB and 2 minutes 20 seconds
  • Mixed media: images and video cannot be combined in one post
  • First comment: supported as a reply to the main post; up to 280 characters
  • Threads: not currently available in the solnk composer

Standard posts and URL posts

An X post containing a web address uses the higher URL-post allowance rate. This includes full links such as https://solnk.com/mcp and bare domains that X automatically turns into links.

X operationAllowance value used
Standard post without a URL$0.015
Post containing a URL$0.20
Analytics read$0.005

These values describe how much of your included X allowance the operation consumes. They are not separate charges added to your solnk invoice.

Included allowance by plan

PlanX publishing allowanceX analytics allowance
FreeUp to 5 standard posts per month; URL posts are not availableNot included
7-day Pro trialUp to 10 standard posts during the trial; URL posts are not availableNot included
ProShared monthly pool worth up to 400 standard posts or 30 URL postsUp to 100 post reads per month
PremiumShared monthly pool worth up to 1,200 standard posts or 90 URL postsUp to 300 post reads per month

Standard and URL posts draw from the same pool. The examples above show the maximum when you use only one post type; mixed usage produces a lower combination of both.

How first comments are counted

An optional first comment is a second X post and consumes allowance separately.

Examples:

  • Standard main post only: $0.015 of allowance
  • URL main post only: $0.20 of allowance
  • URL main post plus a standard first comment: $0.215 of allowance
  • URL main post plus a first comment containing a URL: $0.40 of allowance

The main post remains successful if the optional first comment fails. A failed operation can remain reserved because the request may already have reached X. Retrying the same stored publish reuses the customer allowance reservation, although it can still create additional real X API cost for solnk.

What happens when the allowance is unavailable

The post is stopped before solnk uploads media or sends the create-post request to X. You may see one of these messages:

  • Monthly X publishing allowance reached — wait for the next allowance period or move to a plan with a larger pool.
  • An active Solnk plan is required to use X API features — restore an active Free, trial, Pro, or Premium plan.
  • X API requests are temporarily paused while the prepaid balance is replenished — this is a solnk-wide safety pause; retry after service is restored.
  • Usage protection could not be verified — solnk failed closed to prevent an untracked X charge; retry later.

The composer identifies URL posts before submission and shows whether the standard or higher X allowance rate will be used.
